Chiba is Japan's eastern gateway, home to Narita International Airport and, in Urayasu, the Tokyo Disney Resort, while its Boso Peninsula offers ocean views, surf beaches and the cliffside "Hell Lookout" of Mount Nokogiri.
Chiba (千葉) has long been Edo/Tokyo's coastal larder and gateway; Narita-san Shinshō-ji (成田山新勝寺), founded in 940, draws millions of New Year worshippers each year.
