About
Learn it. Live it. Travel it.
NihongoHub covers one whole arc: a foreigner's real relationship with Japan. Whether you're here to pass the JLPT or JFT-Basic, move to Japan to work or live, or travel its 47 prefectures, this is the one place that connects all three — with honest, source-backed guides, not casual vocabulary drills.
Why we built it
Most apps teach you to recognise words, then leave you alone at the moment that actually matters — the test you have to pass, the city office you have to visit, the trip you're planning. Free apps and AI tutors already commoditised casual practice. What's missing is one trustworthy place that follows the whole journey and stakes its name on getting the details right.
The three territories
- Learn it. Pass the gate — JLPT and JFT-Basic exam prep, by section, with original practice and honest study plans (see Exam prep), plus AI quiz practice (N5–N1).
- Live it. The part textbooks skip — moving to Japan, the specified-skilled-worker path, money transfers, and the first month's paperwork, tied to real prefectures.
- Travel it. A clickable map of all 47 prefectures with local food, sights, and the Japanese that real situations call for.
- Five languages. English, 繁體中文, Español, ไทย, and Bahasa Indonesia.
Who's behind it
NihongoHub is written and reviewed by a native Japanese speaker with a doctorate and university teaching experience. We're independent and unofficial — not affiliated with the JLPT, JFT, JEES, or the Japan Foundation, and not a JLPT instructor. Where something depends on the official test format, we say so and point you to the official site (jlpt.jp). The credential is there to set a bar for accuracy, not to impress: every factual claim is meant to be checkable.
Honest by design
We don't show fake progress numbers or invented social proof. When another tool or guide is genuinely better for you, we'll point you to it — even when it isn't ours. Some links are affiliate links, always disclosed.
Your data & ranking
Your progress lives in your browser. Optional country ranking is anonymous and opt-in: if you turn it on, we store only a coarse country code (from your connection) and a 0–1 readiness score under an anonymous id — never your name, email, or answers. Rankings reset monthly, and you can ignore the feature entirely with no effect on learning.
